I thought 2018 has been a good year at the UK box office, one of the best for ages?
I would gladly pay a bit more if they banned pop corn, fucking irritates me, I've moved seats just so I don't have to listen to someone munching the fucking stuff through the film. Or perhaps I'm just a grumpy old twat!

Of course it is, Alex. It's just a shame that cinemas charge so much nowadays, denying many people even to have that option.
My kids have all left home now but I remember ten-twelve years back taking them to the cinema, get 'em a coke and some popcorn and maybe a McDonalds after, cost the best part of £50. That figure must be closer to £80 now.

Aquaman
The very worst superhero film I've ever seen.
Truly abject

Agree mostly with the sentiments, but if people want to watch movies at home, it's fine too isn't it?

2018 has to be up there with the worst year's movie making. All blockbuster but little content other than what has been repeated over and over again.
Indie films are almost impossible to get finance in the UK (and believe me, I know), as cinemas prices cut out the majority of people who otherwise might think "I'll give that a go".
Instead, we have multiplexes showing a movie for £10 + a ticket with a dozen people in the seats, paying £7 for a large popcorn.
If they halved their entry prices they'd see more than double the audience and shift a lot more overpriced popcorn. A business model that our beloved owners have adopted.
My film education was due to Gants Hill cinema running Saturday Morning Pictures, and later where I could afford a ticket out of my pocket money. I almost lived there.
It's a dying art/participation, which is a great shame but with 72" screens available in the living room it's the future. Sad though, as there is nothing like hundreds of people in a massive room enjoying a special night out.

Saw Aquaman tonight. Good effects, but really I thought it was drivel. About an hour too long. Reminded me of the Black Panther in that way.

Bloke on BBC site who reviews films is giving up so he done a list of his top 10 films over the past 10 years... couple not seen...
Good Vibrations... true story set in 1970's Belfast where a local DJ decides to open up a record shop in the middle of bomb alley... united both Protty's and Catholics in teh love of music... one of the pioneers of the Punk Movement in Belfast... reminded me of a better Commitments film... great fun.
The Babadook.... Aussie horror film.. I'll be honest pretty unnerving in parts and the 2 lead characters (Mum and Son) are absolute top notch... one of the best horrors seen in a long time...
Both worth a butchers' if nothing else is on...
